Underwater Reef Made From Recycled Trains
The ocean bottom has become the train.
The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control have decided on a new project to create an underwater reef for the crustaceans (a group of arthropods; crabs, lobsters, shrimps, etc.) and the fish all in the Atlantic Ocean. For the past couple of years, the New York's Metropolitan Transport Authority has been donating old subway systems, and the metals from the cars. They dismantle and strip the equipment (which is recycled-straps, seatbelts, etc.) to prepare for the hydraulic lines from the ship to drop the train's body into the ocean. Eventually, the company hopes for a line of "houses" to stretch from Delaware to South Carolina. A total of 2,500 trains have been thrown into the ocean.
